How many applicants will be selected to join the O17 coaching?

We will select 50 international students from diverse disciplines.

How will they be selected?

The selection criteria are related to the relevance of the proposed project to the 6 challenges, the innovation of the approach, the feasibility of the project via the use of mobile technology, crowdsourcing and open data, and finally criteria of balance for gender and expertise.

When and how will the coaching happen?

The coaching will start on the week of March 19 and will last for 6 weeks. It consists of one 2h long session every week, run virtually on the ZOOM platform. Precise dates/times will be communicated to successful applicants (taking into account participant time zones). The coaching will include weekly homework (requiring about 1-2 hours work). No travel is required for attending the coaching.

How many participants will be selected to join the SDG Summer School and UNLEASH 2018?

24 students will be selected to join the SDG Summer School.
3 participants will be selected to join UNLEASH 2018

When and where will the SDG Summer School happen?

The SDG Summer School is running for 8 weeks, from Monday July 2 to Saturday August 25. 24 students will spend the initital 2 weeks in Geneva, the following 6 weeks in one of the United Labs partner laboratories, and the final 2 weeks in Beijing and Shenzen (China). You will find more information soon here. Regarding the 4 weeks at United Labs, the location will depend on the expertise required by the selected projects (the decision will be taken by the management team).

Which costs are covered for participating in the SDG Summer School?

For students selected to join the SDG Summer School, costs will be covered as detailed below.
Costs covered
• We will cover all accommodation during the summer school
• We will cover all travels happening during the summer school, including to China
• Support for travel to and from the Summer School is available upon request

• cost associated to obtaining visas (including for China)
• meals and daily expenses
